Winter Storm Warning …

The snow, unlike back in the UK, may not really affect on everyday life here in Indiana. I’ve been impressed at how everything seems to carry on as normal with everybody playing a part to clear the roads and keep walkways safe.

Impressed; until now. They’re exactly the same as the UK if a bit of ice is thrown at them! A warning is in place for freezing rain, sleet and, later, snow. The freezing rain started around about an hour before I left work today and the car was covered in a layer of ice when I got to it. I was thought I’d stop at a nearby grocery store to see how the weather was going down there … car park was full, empty shelves, and long queues at the checkouts (so quite similar to the UK).

Should have checked the cheese section really; that would probably have been empty.

I didn’t get anything from the supermarket, but did stop off at Burger King to grab some quick dinner. The weather was already taking hold; they were out of Coke.

The TV stations have been full of infomercials because of the weather and advice for the, it seems, inevitable power cuts. Which is great because everything in my apartment runs on electric. I hope we don’t get one; I need my tea in the morning!!
